Well, it’s been a hot minute hasn’t it.
I decided in the summer of 2023 to take a break from using social media in all forms as I was aware of just how much time I was spending on my phone, and capping the daily usage was just not something that would work for me. As a great friend of the snooze alarm I knew the same would happen with the ‘ ignore time limit ‘ button. Unfortunately that did mean I removed myself from my Ugly Crumpet pages too. This was accidental but rewarding. Time has passed and I’m in a very different place in my life now where I am FINALLY taking book writing seriously. I am freelancing at the moment so I have heaps more time to finally focus on what I want to do. Plus the fact I get to tell people ‘I’m writing a book’ when they ask what it is I do is very fun!

So, To catch you up on what I have been doing for the last 17 months, I moved out of my London flat and moved to Brighton! It's been the best 15 months. I've eaten so much good food, made so many fantastic friends and have had some interesting jobs since moving. At this point in time, I can't see myself living anywhere else.
Since my social media hiatus, I worked A LOT in the summer of 2023 and spent a large amount of my down time on the beach, having friends over and cooking lots and lots of delicious treats. I went to Crete for a week in September and devoured so much cheese, tzatziki and olives, which are a new discovery for me!
Cut to November, when I quit my full time job and started doing some event work over christmas. The plan was for me to do some short term christmas work, earning my rent money for the next few months and then go all in. Book time baby!
After the festive period where I worked, spent the holiday with my friends family, ate and drank some tasty tasty treats, it was time.
It was and still is very daunting, quitting all sorts of stability to go after something you’ve wanted to do for a while. Those who have known me for a while know that I have been wanting to produce a cookbook since 2020. It’s been a real struggle trying to fit in working on this project alongside working full time, sleeping and having a social life. Over the years I have managed to do little bits and bobs and I get moments where I am incredibly hyper focused on it. But then life comes back in and scoops everything up and The book gets left behind. That is why I made a conscious effort to quit my job and go All In. I’m still doing little jobs here and there, because I need to eat and feed my Guinea pigs. Oh yeah, I got some pets in the summer :) But the book is my main focus.
Everything content wise too that I have not been able to do I know have the time and literally no excuses not to do them. Take this blog for instance, I have not posted on here since August 2022… oops. I really enjoy writing but until now, the blog has not taken priority. I struggle a lot to force myself into doing lots of work ( school exams can prove this ) but now that I have the excitement of finishing this project ( and the fact that I will run out of rent money) it will all finally come together.
In the next coming weeks and months, you can expect blog posts, reviews of products and different things I have spent my hard, depleting money on, more instagram content, perhaps a tiktok or two and the fresh beginnings of my old youtube channel coming back in full force. I’m not going to set any sort of goal for how much extra content I create as the book is my main focus but I will no longer neglect the internet from the wondrous creations that are coming out of my brain! It has been deprived for too long!!!

I want to immerse everyone in the process of this project as it has been a long time coming. And give a huge thank you to my friends who have supported me and let me ramble on everytime I make something new or get a new idea for the book. The one time frame I do have in place, is the 1st draft Will be ready by my birthday this year. November 2024.
So please, stay with me and watch the chaos unfold because the end result will be worth the wait. I assure you. :)
